XLR

A connector used primarily for pro audio applications, the XLR connector has a circular body surrounding 3 pins which carry a balanced or unbalanced audio signal. Due to the design, this type of connector makes a very solid connection and typically has a locking latch to further ensure reliability. The XLR connections are commonly used for microphone cables and line level patch cables. While less common, XLR type connectors with more pins may be found in applications ranging from test-equipment to goose-neck lights on audio mixing consoles. An AES standard AES14-1992 describes pin 1 as ground, pin 2 hot (+) and pin 3 cold (-). QSC follows these standards for all XLR connectors.
